Goverment backs supermarket Embroidered Schoolwear

We have had a lot of feedback from our customers regarding this subject.
Here are my thoughts.

Embroidery and school wear is no different to selling anything else. The grocers, butchers and fishmongers all suffered as a consequence of the Giant supermarkets.
The problem (as far as the government is concerned) with embroidered school wear in the UK has been that schools have had arrangements with independent retailers who were allowed sole rights to sell the schools embroidered garments, which are Copyright of the school in exchange for money.
The Office for Fair Trading reported....
In the UK a third of schools who have an arrangement with a single school uniform supplier benefit financially from this arrangement.
84% of schools insisted that the uniform must be purchased from a designated supplier or from the school.
Exclusive outlets were even more expensive when compared with prices charged in supermarkets: a 150 per cent difference overall (108 per cent primary school items and 173 per cent secondary school items).
So don't put your head in the sand and say it will not effect you!
At ETC Supplies, we have been developing ways of fighting back.
An independent cannot compete on price.
You have to buy from wholesalers, who in turn buy from importers who in turn buy from manufacturers. So even before you can sell the goods you are faced with three layers of profit making. The supermarkets use these three layers as their profit, plus their bulk buying and logistics make the goods cheaper.
Yes, you may argue about quality. But when faced with competition such as seven day opening, late night shopping, money back guarantees and half price uniforms many of your customers will jump ship.
The only option you have is to be smarter and offer something different.
It will take the supermarkets a long time to catch up with you.
At ETC Supplies we are working on developments and products that only we can supply. So think about it!
Who do you buy your consumables from?
Who did you buy your embroidery machine from?
Who did you buy your digitising system from?
I bet these are the same companies that will use your profits to supply the supermarkets so they can take your business away.

Tesco Embroidered School Uniforms

TESCO OFFERING EMBROIDERED SCHOOLWEAR
Tesco are now launching a scheme to offer embroidered schoolwear, having already targeted 1,448 state schools in Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Sheffield and Hertfordshire.
This development has been welcome by the LGA, Trading Standards and the Government who have all been pushing schools and Retailers to offer cheaper school uniforms.
Tesco are looking at offering an embroidered sweatshirt for £5.00 and an embroidered polo shirt for as little as £3.60 with them looking to offer other garments over time. And no doubt with Tesco starting, it will not be long before the other leading supermarket chains follow suit.
This will, without a doubt, affect our customers, small and large businesses alike.
As one of the leading suppliers, here, at ETC we had envisaged such a situation occurring, and have been working on solutions to protect our customers and give them a competitive edge to be able to compete with the supermarket chains.
We are the final stages of developing a product which will allow our customers to compete with the corporate giants. This is exclusive to ETC and not available anywhere else!!
To make sure you are kept in the loop and up to date, continue to look out for our mail merges or contact us to make sure you receive all information.
This is another reason to show why you should buy from ETC! We are always at the forefront of product innovation and we will help you stay ahead of these giants.

Waterproofed Embroidered Badges

At ETC Supplies we are always listening to customers and coming up with solutions to their problems.

One problem area has been embroidered badges applied to outerwear such as rain jackets etc. The embroidery gets wet and soaks up the water. As this happens the embroidery thread expands (soaking up the water like a sponge) and then when it contracts it reduces in size, but never back to the same sharpness as the original. The more often this happens, the greater the wear and tear on the embroidery. The embroidery thread gets weaker as it gets wetter so it deteriorates during wear.

Now ONLY at ETC Supplies can you get the answer to this problem. We have a special water proofing liquid that you can sponge onto the front of the embroidery that will make it waterproof. This will last on average for 10 machine wash cycles at 40°C and then after this period the embroidery can be recoated if need be.

You can see the badge on the left has not been treated. The badge on the right has been treated with our Cotton Proof Waterproofing.

If you buy our embroidered badges then we can apply this waterproofing for a small additional cost.

Embroidery onto waterproof Garments

Many companies have now acknowledged that embroidery onto water proof garments causes the garment to fail and allows wet patches to form.

At ETC Supplies we have been very Pro-active in this field. We are the ONLY company to develop solutions to these problems and offer our customers ways of preventing these problems occurring.

This is a very important factor as many quality customers now state in their purchase orders that waterproof garments should not be compromised in their performance by the addition of embroidery.

We can offer you a selection of ways to overcome these issues including waterproofing the embroidery.

The other factor that you should consider is to purchase our embroidered badges with a heat press coating already applied to them.

We can supply any type of badge with a Merrowed edge for the traditional look or with a laser Cut edge which makes the badge look like embroidered onto the fabric.

These badges can be finished with a range of adhesive coatings that will allow the badge to be permanently fixed onto a range of fabrics including Gore-Tex etc. for which we have developed special machine adhesive coatings.

In addition to these special adhesive coatings we can also supply the badges waterproofed from the front so the thread does not get wet and deteriorate.

Another great use for these heat pressed embroidered badges is for use on Bags, Caps, Polo Shirts and Fleece fabrics. All these present their own problems with traditional direct embroidery. By using our heat pressed embroidered badges you can acheive the same consistant logo on everything you produce!

At ETC Supplies we have can work with you to get the perfect end result that you and your customer requires. Give us a call today to discuss your requirements.

You can see the front and back of waterproof fabrics with the embroidered badges heat pressed on using our special machine applied adhesive.

Garment Re-use and Recycling

Disposing of Decorated (embroidered, screen-printed, sublimated, heat-pressed, emblem etc.) Garments has always been a problem. This is especially the case with WORKWEAR. Many companies have to attach logos and wording to garments for tax and security reasons. These garments must then be given back to the employer after use to dispose of securely to avoid other people wearing them and pretending to be employees.
Until now the only way to deal with these garments was to have them shredded and the fibres used for recycling into new fabrics or wipes.
At ETC Supplies we have looked into this situation and with the support of Centre for Remanufacturing and Reuse we have developed new and innovative ways by which garments, bags and caps etc can be decorated by heat-press embroidery, heat-press emblems, heat-press flex and even heat-press diamante.
The garments etc, can have the logos applied by heat press using various methods that we have and these can then be worn and laundered as usual. When the garment is ready for recycling, it can be returned and using a special spray on product that neutralises the adhesive the logo can be removed without damage to the garment. This means that often high quality and expensive garments, bags and caps can then be sent to third world countries for re-use.
This is a simple yet very effective method to make good use of our worlds resources and at the same time help those people who are less fortunate then oursleves.
If the garments and heat-pressed logos are purchased from us then we can make arrangements to have the used products returned to us for the emblems to be removed and the garments sent away for recycling.
All you have to do is think outside the box. It does not cost you any more!
Please contact us for more details.
